Karl F. Weintz | President, Chief Executive Officer & Board Member

Karl has broad experience leading security and technology businesses through hyper-growth and drastic industry consolidation. He was recently COO of CoreStreet, the leader in Credential Validation solutions for Identity & Access Management technologies for cyber, homeland and physical security. He successfully grew the business to profitability and sold it to ActivIdentity, world leader in Identity Assurance software. While at ActivIdentity he ran Worldwide Sales, Marketing and Corporate Development. He was instrumental in the subsequent sale of ActivIdentity to HID Global, part of ASSA ABLOY. At HID, he was VP of Mobile Access, a strategic initiative where smart phones actuated readers and opened doors via Near Field Communication. Earlier in his career at Genuity and BBN Planet, he had P&L responsibility for various internet services including managed application services, web hosting and virtual private networks. He started his career at NASA, where he led the mechanical design, analysis and integration team for an experiment that flew on the Space Shuttle Endeavor. Karl holds a master of business administration degree from Harvard Business School, a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering, as well as a bachelor of arts in anthropology from Stanford University.


Bruce Rector | Chief Financial Officer

Bruce oversees the finance area of Sonavation, including financial strategy and operations. He began his career as a computer engineer designing central processors for large scale computers and later traded large fixed income and currency derivative portfolios. After working at large corporations, including Unisys and Sunbeam, Bruce spent the past fourteen years as a consultant for entrepreneurial companies across a wide variety of industries, including technology, healthcare, biotech, distribution, utilities, and consumer product manufacturing. He was impressed by what he saw at Sonavation and quickly joined the management team when the opportunity presented itself. Bruce is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a degree in electrical engineering, and an MBA from the Wharton School.


Dr. Rainer Schmitt | Chief Technology Officer

With over 35 years of experience in the bio-medical industry, Rainer is a pioneer in this space and developed the physical foundations of Sonavation’s MEMs-based fingerprint technology. Prior to Sonavation, Rainer served at Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, Europe’s largest and most prestigious organization for applied research. Since 2004, Rainer is an Adjunct Professor of Radiology at the University of Michigan.


Todd Thibodeaux | EVP & GM, Worldwide Sales

With over 20 years of experience as a sales leader in innovative security, identity and authentication, Todd leads Sonavation’s Global Sales and Worldwide Strategic Partnerships. With his rare ability to act as a trusted advisor to his clients, Todd is a pragmatic leader that intuitively understands how to align, drive and close business by developing alliances that are beneficial to all parties.  Prior to joining Sonavation, Todd held senior management positions in sales, sales leadership and business development at industry leading technology companies SecuGen, Citrix, SecureAuth and was instrumental in building the successful exit strategies for the sale of Protocom to Actividentity and then the sale of Actividentity to HID.  Todd is known not for working “outside the box”, but rather for helping clients and partners “redefine the box”.

Ron Rockwell | VP, Software Architecture

Ron has over 30 years of experience in computer development on multiple computing platforms.  After earning his BS in Computer Science from SUNY Plattsburgh, he landed in South Florida and started on his career in a private company developing specialized CAD/CAM software.  After a successful launch of that product, he started in software development of CE products and computer systems development for a combined 22 years at Harris Computer Systems, Motorola and Free Scale Semiconductor.  His experience in CE included product development and production systems. He was a significant contributor in the development of a state of the art CE assembly production system targeted to drive improvements in quality and capacity. Ron also holds several patents for CE devices during his tenure there.  While serving at Harris, he was a systems analyst for government/government contractors in military defense.  During his past eight years at Sonavation, Ron has significant contributions in computer based architecture and software development for ultrasound computing.

Ron Craig

Ron Craig | VP, Engineering

With a career spanning over 37 years, Ron is a leader in software engineering. Prior to Sonavation, Ron served as Director of Engineering at Freescale Semiconducter where he led the team that was responsible for Platform Architecture Design. His leadership spanned over I.C. architecture, circuit design, QA and software. Ron started his career at Motorola, where he spent 30 years in several key Engineering roles responsible for key projects in development, manufacturing, quality, radio RF network infrastructure, customer service, and mobile products chipset architecture.
